Soccer Game Preview: Sahuaro vs. Walden Grove

The Sahuaro Cougars will face off against the Walden Grove Red Wolves at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Sahuaro's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for 14 straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Sahuaro fell victim to Salpointe Catholic and their airtight defense on Wednesday. They lost 8-0 to the Lancers. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona soccer rankings (they are ranked 176th, while the Lancers are ranked third).

Meanwhile, Walden Grove was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Mica Mountain.

Walden Grove's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Sahuaro, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-13.

Sahuaro suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Walden Grove in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Can Sahuaro avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
