Recap: Leonardtown Raiders vs. Chopticon Braves
The Leonardtown Raiders were the 68-56 winner over the Chopticon Braves when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Leonardtown took a 59-45 bruising from Chopticon on Friday.
Several Raiders players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Landon Windell, who scored eight points. Another player making a difference was Aaron Green, who scored four points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Even though they lost, Leonardtown smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Chopticon was led to victory by Braylon Harrison and Jordan Pernell. Harrison scored 16 points along with nine rebounds, while Pernell scored 21 points along with six rebounds and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Pernell has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Iverson Hill, who scored six points.
Leonardtown's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Chopticon, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Leonardtown will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against La Plata at 6:30 p.m. on January 17th. La Plata is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. As for Chopticon, they will head out on the road to challenge McDonough at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in McDonough's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matchups.
