Stanford is considered NFL University for tight ends, which is good news for Kaden Smith, a senior at Marcus (Flower Mound, Texas).

The 6-foot-5, 235-pound senior tight end has committed to the Cardinal, though Alabama, coming off a big performance from its senior tight end O.J. Howard in the national title game, is making a strong push.

Smith is the No. 37 recruit overall and No. 2 tight end from the Class of 2016 in the nation, according to 247Sports.

Former Stanford players in the NFL currently are Zach Ertz (Eagles), Coby Fleener (Colts) and Griff Whalen (Colts), with current junior Austin Hooper planning to enter the 2016 draft.

Though Stanford and Alabama are two places coveting Smith, 13 others have made offers. They are: Baylor, Clemson, Duke, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech and Florida State.
