Softball Preview: Mountain Pointe Pride vs. Saguaro Sabercats
The Mountain Pointe Pride will be taking part in a tournament against the Saguaro Sabercats at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Mountain Pointe and six for Saguaro dating back to last season.
Mountain Pointe came up short against Arizona College Prep on Tuesday, falling 22-1.
Mountain Pointe saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Evita Delgado, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
Meanwhile, Saguaro scored first but ultimately less than Flagstaff in their match last Tuesday. They lost 16-6 to the Eagles. One positive for the Sabercats, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.
Hailey Holliday was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Alexa Simpson was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-2.
Saguaro's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Mountain Pointe, the defeat was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 5-4-1.
Mountain Pointe was able to grind out a solid victory over Saguaro when the teams last played back in February of 2018, winning 6-3. Will Mountain Pointe repeat their success, or does Saguaro have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
