Basketball Recap: Kentridge Chargers vs. Tahoma Bears
After a string of four wins, the Kentridge Chargers's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 58-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of Tahoma. Kentridge has struggled against the Bears recently, as their game on Tuesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Kentridge lost, one person who can't be blamed is Sydney Esperanza. Despite the final result, she scored 17 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Esperanza hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayla Keowla, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Tahoma found their leader in underclassman Adalynn Busch, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 17 rebounds. Busch has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jaycee Harrison, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Kentridge's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-8. As for Tahoma, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-2 record this season.
Kentridge will be playing at home against the Conquerors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Washington (Kentwood is ranked 65th, while the Chargers are ranked 82nd). As for Tahoma, they will head out on the road to square off against the Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
