Softball Recap: Boiling Springs Triumphs

Boiling Springs was handed a 15-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Spring Grove Rockets 4-3.

Delaney Lawyer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 14 Ks.

On the hitting side, Gabrielle Vonstein was incredible, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabelle Allen, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base.

Boiling Springs is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. Spring Grove's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-5.

Looking ahead, Boiling Springs will welcome Greencastle-Antrim at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Boiling Springs will need to watch out since Greencastle-Antrim has now posted at least ten runs every time they've taken the field this season. As for Spring Grove, they will head out to take on West York Area at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Spring Grove is facing West York Area at the right time seeing as West York Area is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
