Basketball Recap: Surry Central Drops Highest Score of Season Against Community School of Davidson

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Surry Central). They put the hurt on the Community School of Davidson Spartans with a sharp 61-36 victory on Tuesday. The Golden Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 25 points or more this season.

Surry Central's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Layla Wall, who posted nine points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals. Wall has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. Sierra Carpenter was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Surry Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, Community School of Davidson still got an impressive performance from Aubrey Mccormick, who put up 16 points and three blocks.

Surry Central's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-0. As for Community School of Davidson, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Surry Central will host Starmount at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Community School of Davidson, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against North Wilkes at 6:00 p.m.
