Basketball Recap: Cherryville Takes a Loss

Cherryville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were beaten by the Bessemer City Yellow Jackets 66-29. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Yellow Jackets this season, with their most recent defeat being a 63-31 loss last Tuesday.

Bessemer City was led to victory by Tionna Pettus and Kionna Pettus. Tionna dropped a triple-double with 24 points, 12 rebounds, and 12 steals, while Kionna dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten boards. The contest was Tionna's 22nd in a row with at least 24 points. Izzy Escomirosa was another key player, putting up seven points.

Cherryville's defeat dropped their record down to 9-16. As for Bessemer City, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-11.

Cherryville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Bessemer City, they have already played their next matchup, a 62-36 loss against Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy on the 18th.
