Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pioneer). They rang in the new year with a 61-54 victory over the Frankfort Hot Dogs on Thursday. That's two games straight that the Panthers have won by exactly seven points.

Frankfort's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Charlie Beardsley, who posted 15 points and eight rebounds. The dominant performance gave Beardsley a new career-high in rebounds. Another player making a difference was Rj Cornman, who had seven points in addition to eight assists and five boards.

The win made it two in a row for Pioneer and bumps their season record up to 5-4. As for Frankfort, they dropped their record down to 1-9 with the defeat, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pioneer will head out to take on Frontier at 7:30 p.m. on January 10th. As for Frankfort, they will take on Lebanon at 7:30 p.m. on January 10th.
