Basketball Recap: Polk County Comes Up Short

Polk County lost against Brevard back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Polk County Wolverines received a blow as they fell 73-56 to the Brevard Blue Devils. The Wolverines were down 57-36 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Despite the loss, Polk County still got an impressive performance from Aaron Jackson, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 46.4% of Polk County's points, marking the third time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Khalil Austin, who scored ten points.

Even though they lost, Polk County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 15 offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.

Polk County's defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Brevard, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 5-6 record this season.

Polk County has already played their next contest, an 82-77 loss against Patton on the 24th. As for Brevard, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 63-41 victory against Tuscola on the 23rd.
