Softball Recap: Greenfield-Central Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Greenfield-Central and Floyd Central squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Greenfield-Central had to settle for second. They fell 6-1 to the Highlanders. Having soared to a lofty 23 runs in the game before, the Cougars couldn't push the score so high this time.

Addie Heacox was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she didn't allow a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Greenfield-Central saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tovaria Smith, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI. Josie White was another, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

The loss snapped Greenfield-Central's winning streak at 11 games and leaves them with a 19-8 record. As for Floyd Central, the victory (which was their 17th in a row) raised their record to 27-4.
