Softball Recap: Lucas' Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Lucas extended their winning streak to three on Monday, bumping their season record up to 6-7 in the process. They put the hurt on the Crestline Bulldogs with a sharp 11-1 win. 11 seems to be a good number for the Cubs as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Maddie Boyer made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.

In other batting news, Arya Ohm was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Brown, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

As for Crestline, the loss snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 5-7 record. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.

Like Lucas, Crestline also got a great game from a two-way player: Addisyn Lavene. She struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits (and not a single walk). The dominant performance also gave Lavene a new career-low in walks (zero). She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lucas will venture away from home to square off against Crestview at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Crestline, they will challenge East Knox at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday.
