Baseball Recap: Versailles Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Versailles came tearing into Monday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Franklin Monroe Jets get on the board and left with a 7-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.

Owen Mendenhall tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over 5.1 innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Versailles saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sam Deland, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another was Jace Watren, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Versailles' record now sits at 15-4. As for Franklin Monroe, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-12.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Versailles will head out to challenge Carroll at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Franklin Monroe, they will venture away from home to take on Arcanum at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
