Softball Recap: Regina Dominican Extends Winning Streak to Six

Regina Dominican had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.6 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Francis W. Parker Colonels a 12-0 shutout. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 17-0 on Thursday.

Addison Volkers made a big impact no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Olivia Fraterrigo was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Anna O'Connor, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs.

Regina Dominican hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in six consecutive games.

Regina Dominican pushed their record up to 9-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.7 runs over those games. As for Francis W. Parker, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Coincidentally, Regina Dominican and Francis W. Parker will both be playing Woodlands Academy the next time they take the field. The Colonels will host the Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, while the Panthers will head out to face them at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
