League recap: Harding Academy tops Perryville to extend winning streak

3A Region 2 recap November 5, 2013

Harding Academy added to the longest winning streak in 3A Region 2 this week by beating Perryville, 47-7. The victory was the ninth in a row for the Wildcats.

Riverview and Rose Bud played the closest game in the league this week, with Riverview eventually emerging with a 27-26 victory. Tielyr Fulgham ran for 169 yards in the win.

Thanks to the talents of Adam Dycus and Justin Bailey, Mayflower has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Dycus leads the league in passing with 2,308 yards, while Bailey has rushed for 649 yards this season. Episcopal's Allie Freeman leads the league in receiving yards with 656 on 43 catches.

Fans will be treated to a premier battle in the secondary when the Wildcats' Freeman goes up against the Raiders' Kirklan Pettis.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Barton takes on Harding Academy. The Bears are in third place, while Roddy Mote's team is in first place.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Barton takes on the Wildcats. The Bears have allowed 106 points this season, while Harding Academy has given up 95. Barton allowed 14 points last week as it topped Bald Knob.
