Basketball Recap: Emily Callahan's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Indian Land over Fort Mill

Indian Land was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat. They received a blow as they fell 48-31 to the Fort Mill Yellow Jackets. The Warriors were probably out for revenge after losing 35-17 to them when the teams met back in December of 2022, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Indian Land lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Emily Callahan, who went 5 for 12 en route to 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaitlyn Knoll, who posted two points along with 14 rebounds and five steals.

Even though they lost, Indian Land smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 27 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Fort Mill was led to victory by Zoe Williams and Saylor Heberling. Williams went 6 of 8 on her way to 14 points in addition to five boards and three blocks, while Heberling went 6 for 12 en route to 14 points and six rebounds. Those 14 points gave Williams a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Natyia Parker, who earned six points and five steals.

Indian Land's loss dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Fort Mill, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-7.

Indian Land wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 37-22 win against Garinger on the 18th. Fort Mill has also already played their next game (against Nation Ford), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
