Spearfish won the last time they faced Brookings and things went their way on Saturday too. The Spartans won by a set and slipped past the Bobcats 2-1. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Spartans as it put an end to their three-match losing streak.

Their offense was headlined by Adelyn Bouman and Julia Billington, who picked up 11 kills apiece. They got some help from Kali Reiners and her 28 assists. Finally, Kaitlyn Wheaton kept Spearfish's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

Spearfish's win bumped their record up to 18-11. As for Brookings, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 12 of their last 15 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-20 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Spearfish is set to face off against their familiar foe Rapid City Central at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Brookings will take on rival Pierre T.F. Riggs at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
