Recap: Hicksville Aces vs. Ayersville Pilots
The Hicksville Aces won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Thursday. They took a serious blow against Ayersville, falling 50-20. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Hicksville in their matchups with Ayersville: they've now lost four in a row.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Hicksville struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Ally Schindler was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds for Ayersville. Schindler hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Taylor Craft was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 14 rebounds and three steals.
Hicksville bumped their record down to 2-11 with that loss, which was their 12th straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 23.1 points per game. As for Ayersville, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 12-0.
Hicksville will head out on the road to square off against Lincolnview at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Lincolnview presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Hicksville in Ohio (Lincolnview is ranked 348th, while Hicksville is ranked 720th). As for Ayersville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Montpelier at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
