Baseball Recap: Poca Takes a Loss

If Poca was feeling good fresh off their 13-2 takedown of Teays Valley Christian on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Dots fell just short of the Tug Valley Panthers by a score of 6-4 on Monday. The Dots were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Panthers earlier this season, when they won 9-7.

Jackson McClanahan put in work while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Logan Inglish made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one double. He has become a key player for Poca: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-10 otherwise.

Poca has been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season. As for Tug Valley, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-10.

Coming up, Poca will face off against Buffalo at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Dots' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bison have averaged an impressive 8.3 runs per game this season. As for Tug Valley, they will challenge Man at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
