Preview: Quabbin Regional vs. Burncoat
The regular season was a success, but the real challenge begins now, in the postseason. This Friday Burncoat takes on Quabbin Regional in the first playoff game of the year. Burncoat has seen its point totals steadily rise over the past three games, a trend the team will no doubt hope to continue.
Burncoat's encounter with South Community/University Park/Claremont Academy two weeks ago was a 38-point stomp, but the result last week was anything but. Burncoat and Nashoba Valley Tech were almost perfectly matched up last week, but Burncoat suffered an agonizing 49 - 48 defeat. Burncoat fell despite improving upon an already solid 44-point performance the game before. As for Quabbin Regional, it has to be hurting after a devastating 41 - 20 defeat at the hands of Oakmont Regional last game.
After their losses, Burncoat dropped to 3-5 and Quabbin Regional dropped to 2-6. Both Quabbin Regional and Burncoat have been struggling on the defensive side of the ball (the former allowing an average of 36 points per game, the latter an average of 28 points per game).
