Softball Game Preview: Honaker Tigers vs. Northwood Panthers

The Honaker Tigers will venture away from home to face off against the Northwood Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Honaker will be strutting in after a victory while Northwood will be coming in after a defeat.

Honaker took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Chilhowie 6-4.

Alyssa Wilson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on four hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, Jailey Gross was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and five RBI. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aliyah Hilton, who went 3-for-4 with three doubles and two runs.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Northwood's offense. They lost 8-0 to Holston last Thursday. The Panthers have struggled against the Cavaliers recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.

Honaker's win bumped their record up to 11-6. As for Northwood, their loss dropped their record down to 7-10.

Honaker took their victory against Northwood in their previous meeting back in April by a conclusive 7-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
