Softball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Seymour's Fourth in Last Five Outings

Seymour hadn't done well against Bedford North Lawrence recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Owls walked away with an 8-5 victory over the Stars. This was payback for the Owls, who suffered a 6-1 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Taylor Stuckwisch spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on seven hits. She also set a new season-high mark in RBI with four.

On the hitting side, Abby Followell was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Phoebe Underwood, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Seymour was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bedford North Lawrence only posted a batting average of .231.

Seymour has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Bedford North Lawrence, their record now sits at 16-9.

Looking ahead, Seymour is taking a road trip to take on Greenfield-Central at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Bedford North Lawrence, they will welcome Jeffersonville at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing is sure in the Stars' favor as the team sits on seven straight wins at home while the Red Devils have been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road.
