Volleyball Recap: La Salle Academy Comes Up Short

La Salle Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Xavier Falcons.

La Salle Academy actually scored more points across those five sets (100-96), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 25-19, 25-20, 15-25, 16-25, 15-11.

Loss or not, La Salle Academy got some senior leadership from Ty Cotta and Eliseo Nogueras III. Cotta had 17 digs and two assists, while Nogueras III had seven digs and two aces. Cotta has been hot recently, having posted 13 or more digs the last four times he's played. Justin Crossett also deserves some recognition as he had his first kills of the season.

Leading Xavier to victory were Ethan Tran and Seamus McCormack. Tran had ten digs, while McCormack had 17 kills, eight digs, and one block. That's the most digs Tran has posted over his last seven matches.

La Salle Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Xavier, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-7 record.

La Salle Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 3-1 victory against East Greenwich on the 6th. As for Xavier, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Hand on the 5th.
