West Branch had won six straight games and Grady Hirst did his part to make it seven on Friday. The Warriors came within six points of losing the streak, but they secured a 34-28 W against the Alliance Aviators for which the team can thank Hirst, who threw for 245 yards and a pair of TDs, and also rushed for 69 yards and one score. He didn't just play on offense: he also made three total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defended one pass in addition to snagging an interception.
West Branch didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Drake Stryffeler and Hirst.
Although Alliance took the loss, they still got scores from Caydan Sanders, Cashe Brisker, Kam Burton, and Jarrin Blair.
West Branch's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Alliance, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-2.
