Basketball Recap: East Providence Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with Classical

On Thursday, East Providence faced Classical in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The East Providence Townies fell 63-50 to the Classical Purple. The Townies haven't had much luck with the Purple recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Leading Classical to victory were Eliezer Delbrey and Abdul Evans. Delbrey posted 22 points, while Evans had 23 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which Delbrey has scored at least a third of Classical's points. Jordan Duke was another key player, putting up seven points.

East Providence's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Classical, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-3.

When East Providence and Classical next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. East Providence will try to stop Lincoln's four-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Classical will take on Barrington and their five-game winning streak at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
