Basketball Recap: Berwyn/Cicero Morton Comes Up Short

Berwyn/Cicero Morton lost against Proviso East back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Berwyn/Cicero Morton Mustangs took a 46-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Proviso East Pirates. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 477th, while the Pirates are ranked 218th).

Proviso East got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Camiya Marshall out in front who posted 11 points and six steals. Marshall has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 14 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Kimble, who went 6 of 10 en route to 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Berwyn/Cicero Morton has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-18 record this season. As for Proviso East, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-9 record this season.

Berwyn/Cicero Morton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Proviso East, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Thornwood at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
