Basketball Recap: Gridley Victorious

Gridley extended their postseason success on Tuesday against Bret Harte. In a tight game that could have gone either way, they made off with a 41-40 win over the Bret Harte Bullfrogs. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 291st, while the Bullfrogs are ranked 639th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Among those leading the charge was Gus Stogsdill, who posted eight points along with nine boards and five steals. Those five steals gave him a new career-high. Matthew Miskin was another key player, putting up seven points and six rebounds.

Gridley has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.2 points over those games. This is the second loss in a row for Bret Harte and nudges their season record down to 22-9.

Gridley didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 70-67 defeat against University Prep on the 6th. Bret Harte does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
