Volleyball Recap: Sofia Romo's Big Game Can't Quite Lead El Cerrito over San Rafael

If El Cerrito was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Vallejo on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Gauchos fell 3-1 to the San Rafael Bulldogs on Thursday. The Gauchos have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

El Cerrito started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 25-16, 25-16, 25-16.

Several Gauchos players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sofia Romo, who had eight digs.

Having lost for the first time this season, El Cerrito fell to 2-1. As for San Rafael, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0.

El Cerrito wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Berkeley on the 2nd. As for San Rafael, they have also already played their next game, a 2-1 win against Ukiah on the 30th.
