Basketball Recap: West Las Vegas' Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Saturday

West Las Vegas lost against Los Lunas back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The West Las Vegas Dons took a 56-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Los Lunas Tigers. The Dons' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Despite the loss, West Las Vegas still got an impressive performance from Alexis Pacheco, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten boards. Pacheco's evening made it nine games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayla Cordova, who posted 11 points along with six steals and five rebounds.

West Las Vegas' defeat dropped their record down to 13-4. As for Los Lunas, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 15-3.

When West Las Vegas and Los Lunas next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. West Las Vegas will take on Santa Fe Indian and their four-game winning streak at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. West Las Vegas is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.4 points per game this season. Meanwhile, Los Lunas will try to stop West Mesa's three-game winning streak when the meet at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
