While everyone is waiting for New Jersey Gatorade Player of the Year and St. Peter's Prep star
Savon Huggins to choose his school, the state's second-best athlete made his choice last Saturday when Long Branch's
Miles Shuler verbally committed to Rutgers.
The state Tournament of Champions winner in the 100-meter dash last spring, Shuler, a 5-11, 175-pounder played quarterback for the Green Wave and rolled up 1,864 yards and 20 touchdowns of total offense. Shuler is expected to begin his Rutgers career as a wide receiver. He will play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl next month.

Gary Nova each decommitted from Pittsburgh after the Big East program shook up its coaching staff. Pitt's former ace recruiter in New Jersey, Jeff Hafley, joined Greg Schiano's staff and Rutgers, raising the possibility Nova could eventually become a Scarlet Knight. He will visit the state university the weekend of Jan. 21.
St. Peter's Prep's Huggins visited Auburn last weekend and has the
national championship contender among his finalists along with North
Carolina, Notre Dame, Rutgers and USC. Huggins' teammate, star
safety
Sheldon Royster, is slated to visit Michigan (weekend of Jan. 7)
and North Carolina (Nov. 14).
