Colorado Academy picks up fifth straight win on the road

Recap: Colorado Academy Mustangs vs. Jefferson Academy Jaguars

The Colorado Academy Mustangs won the last time they faced the Jefferson Academy Jaguars, and things went their way on Saturday too. Colorado Academy took down Jefferson Academy 59-45. Given Colorado Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 15th, while Jefferson Academy is ranked 185th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jefferson Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jimeto Orji, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds. Isaiah Mendez was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with four steals.

Colorado Academy pushed their record up to 11-2 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.4 points per game. As for Jefferson Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Colorado Academy will challenge Eagle Ridge Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Aiden Wanrow and Jason Bratis. As for Jefferson Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Forge Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Forge Christian is coming into the game hot, having won their last seven games.
