Basketball Game Preview: Gateway Olympians vs. Village Mountaineers

The Gateway Olympians will venture away from home to challenge the Village Mountaineers at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Gateway has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with three straight losses, while Village will come in with four straight victories.

Last Thursday, Gateway ended up a good deal behind Aurora Central and lost 67-51.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Village). They strolled past Mitchell with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 60-44.

Gateway better keep an eye on Carter Sterk. He was instrumental in Village's win, going 15 for 21 on his way to 40 points and five rebounds. With that strong performance, Sterk is now averaging an impressive 16.3 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Nau, who posted six points.

Village smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Gateway's defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Village, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
