Football Recap: Lowell Red Devils vs. West Lafayette Red Devils

After flying high against La Porte last Friday, Lowell came back down to earth. The Lowell Red Devils lost 34-14 to the West Lafayette Red Devils on Friday. Lowell was down 28-7 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Although Lowell took the loss, they still got scores from Lincoln Schneider and Brody Kalwinski.

Dawson Martin had an outrageously good game for West Lafayette as he rushed for 168 yards and two touchdowns, and also picked up 35 receiving yards. With that strong performance, Martin is now averaging an impressive 105.3 rushing yards per game. Another player making a difference was Benny Speaker, who threw for 202 yards and a touchdown.

Lowell now has a losing record at 1-2. As for West Lafayette, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-1.

Lowell will square off against Hanover Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for West Lafayette, they will challenge Rensselaer Central at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. West Lafayette is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
