Baseball Game Preview: Plainville Blue Devils vs. Somers Spartans

The Plainville Blue Devils will head out to face off against the Somers Spartans at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.

Plainville is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 12 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Platt on Tuesday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.

Meanwhile, Somers had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Wednesday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 12-11 W against the Warriors.

Justin Czerwinski was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2025. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Somers got a big performance out of Brodie White, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. Another player making a difference was Brandon Damboragian, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

The loss snapped Plainville's winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 9-7 record. As for Somers, their record is now 12-1.

Plainville couldn't quite finish off Somers in their previous meeting back in May of 2025 and fell 3-1. Can the Blue Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
