Basketball Recap: Advantage Academy Starts Season with Defeat on the Road

Advantage Academy had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They were dealt a 48-2 defeat at the hands of the UME Preparatory Academy EAGLES on Thursday. The Eagles' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it 12 in a row dating back to last season.

It was another big night for TJ Maye, who went 5 of 6 on his way to 12 points for UME Preparatory Academy. Maye has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Lemuel Moitinho Martinez, who posted nine points.

UME Preparatory Academy's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 5-10.

Advantage Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on UME Preparatory Academy on January 16, 2025. As for UME Preparatory Academy, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Poetry Community Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
