Preview: Paradise Panthers vs. Callisburg Wildcats
Paradise is 6-0 against Callisburg since December of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Paradise Panthers will head out on the road to take on the Callisburg Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Paradise is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
S & S Consolidated typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Paradise proved too difficult a challenge. They pulled ahead with a 33-32 photo finish over the Rams. Given Paradise's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 267th, while S & S Consolidated is ranked 589th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Gazey Yates, who scored 19 points. Another player making a difference was Rylee Nichols, who scored five points along with 12 rebounds and three steals.
Callisburg suffered their biggest defeat since December 15, 2023 on Tuesday. Their tough 46-26 defeat to Valley View might stick with them for a while. Callisburg has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Paradise is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 23-7 record this season. As for Callisburg, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost 11 of their last 14 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-20 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Paradise against Callisburg when the teams last played on January 2nd as the squad secured a 65-15 win. With Paradise ahead 36-3 at the half, the match was all but over already.
