Baseball Game Preview: Wendell Trojans vs. Garden Valley Wolverines

The Wendell Trojans will head out to face off against the Garden Valley Wolverines at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Wendell had taken Malad down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Friday. The Trojans fell 8-3 to the Dragons.

Adrian Nava made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Zayden Rogers, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Garden Valley's offense. They lost 11-0 to Glenns Ferry on Friday. The Wolverines have struggled against the Pilots recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

Garden Valley's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Wendell, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12-1 record this season.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Wendell has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Garden Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 10.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
