Basketball Recap: San Isidro Takes a Loss

San Isidro extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to four on Saturday, dropping them down to 0-3. The matchup between the Tigers and the Raymondville Bearkats didn't end well, with the Tigers falling 52-38. The Tigers were not able to make up for their loss to the Bearkats from their previous meeting back in December of 2024.

As for Raymondville, their win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.7 points over those games.

Raymondville was led to victory by Diego Villegas and Jaden Mendez. Villegas posted 14 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals, while Mendez dropped a double-double with 12 points and 11 boards. Mendez is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last four games he's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jose Hernandez, who put up ten points and five rebounds.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. San Isidro will challenge Premont at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Raymondville, they will take on Lasara at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
