2A District 5 recap September 24, 2013
Holdenville's Jason Scott rumbled for the longest rushing play in 2A District 5 this season in his game against Coalgate last week. Scott scampered for 73 yards on the play and finished with 134 on the day as his team defeated the Wildcats.
Haskell fell to Spiro 55-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Kanyon Kelley ran for 59 yards in the loss.
D'Angelo Moore was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 156 yards on 16 carries as Holdenville bested Wayne.
Jackson was the best receiver in the league this week as the Bulldogs beat the Bulldogs. Jackson tallied 2 receptions for 28 yards.
Moore put up the best numbers in passing as Don Padgett's team defeated Coalgate. He had a total of 3 completions for 43 yards. Moore's favorite target this week was Colton Fredrick, who caught 2 passes for 24 yards.
Meeker's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Bulldogs feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Jake Standlee has thrown for 131 yards this season, while Jackson has 3 catches for 83 yards.
One of 2A District 5's premier quarterbacks will face off with its top pass rusher when Meeker and Haskell face off next week.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Mounds takes on Okemah. At the moment, the Golden Eagles are in first, while the Panthers are in fourth.
Mounds and Yale played the most contested game in the league this week, with Mounds eventually emerging with a 7-6 victory.
