On Saturday Colton Mitchell pitched seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits. The performance also marked the fewest walks (zero) Mitchell has had since back in March. As if that's not impressive enough, the pitching appearance was his fourth in a row with less than two walks. For the year, he has an ERA of 2.26 over 34 innings pitched.

Even though Mitchell couldn't lead Timnath over Berthoud, he won't have to wait long to try again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Cubs haven't beaten the Spartans recently, having gone 0-3 since April of 2023.
