Basketball Game Preview: Casey-Westfield Warriors vs. Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine

The Casey-Westfield Warriors will head out on the road to square off against Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Casey-Westfield is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.7 points per game this season.

Casey-Westfield's tournament run continued when they took on Sullivan on Saturday. Casey-Westfield fell 48-38 to Sullivan. The game marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Casey-Westfield's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Luke Karras, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten boards, and Hayden Parcel, who posted 16 points and seven rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Karras a new career-high in steals (four). Another player making a difference was Jackson High, who had five points.

Even though they lost, Casey-Westfield smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in four consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine's game last Monday was all tied up 29-29 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 64-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of South Vermillion. While losing is never fun, Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 636th in Illinois, while South Vermillion is ranked 229th in Indiana).

Casey-Westfield has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-3 record this season. As for Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-8.

Everything came up roses for Casey-Westfield against Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine in their previous matchup back in November of 2021, as the squad secured a 65-20 victory.
