            Mercer lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Slippery Rock, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's   game. Mercer put the hurt on Slippery Rock with a sharp  14-0 win on Thursday. With that  victory, the Mustangs brought their scoring average up to 7  runs per game.
 Angelina Eakman made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she  didn't allow a single  earned run while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  tossed less than ten  strikeouts any time she's  pitched this season. She was also big at the plate,  scoring four  runs and  stealing two bases while  getting on base  in all five of her plate appearances.

 In other batting news,  Emma Stoepfel and  Kailyn Adams did most of the damage at the plate:  Stoepfel  scored three  runs and  stole a base while going 4-for-5, while  Adams  scored a  run and  stole three bases while going 2-for-5. Those  three  stolen bases gave  Adams a new career-high.  Madison Hackett was another key player,  scoring three  runs and  stealing a base while going 1-for-5.
 Mercer was getting hits left and right  and  finished the game having  posted a batting average of .425. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Slippery Rock only posted a  batting average of  .174.
The  win made it two in a row for Mercer and  bumps their season record up to 3-1. The  victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Slippery Rock,  they are  on  a  five-game losing streak  (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.
 Both  squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mercer will take on West Middlesex at 4:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. The  matchup will  give Mercer their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Slippery Rock, they will face off against Union City at 1:00  p.m.  on Saturday.
