Recap: Westfield Shamrocks vs. Carmel Greyhounds
The Westfield Shamrocks put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Carmel by a score of 44-31. Given Westfield's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while Carmel is ranked 69th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Nic Book was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds. The contest was his eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Durante Morton, who scored seven points.
Westfield pushed their record up to 9-0 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Carmel, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westfield and Hamilton Southeastern will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 12th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Carmel, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Brownstown Central at 7:30 p.m.
