Basketball Recap: Jed Dickens' Big Game Can't Quite Lead North Florida Christian over Leon

North Florida Christian lost against Leon back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The North Florida Christian Eagles took a 67-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Leon Lions. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 494th, while the Lions are ranked 126th).

North Florida Christian's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jed Dickens, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten boards. Dickens is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Jace Riggan was another key player, dropping a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds.

It was another big night for Aaron Pensel, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten boards for Leon. The dominant performance gave Pensel a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was DeKendrick Williams, who posted 16 points and five assists.

North Florida Christian's defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Leon, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 14-5.

North Florida Christian has already played their next matchup, a 67-57 loss against Lincoln on the 16th. As for Leon, they will head out on the road to challenge Chiles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Leon's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four contests.
