Baseball Game Preview: Kirtland Hornets vs. Crestwood Red Devils

For the second straight game, Kirtland will face off against Crestwood. The Hornets will face off against the Red Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Kirtland will come into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.

If Kirtland beats Crestwood with three runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Hornets didn't even let the Red Devils on the board on Monday, marking the Hornets' second-straight 3-0 shutout.

Not much got past Max Paul, who gave up just four hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Crestwood off the board. Paul has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Matthew Kahley was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.

Kirtland pushed their record up to 11-0 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Crestwood, they moved to 6-5 with that defeat, which also ended their six-game winning streak.
