Softball Game Preview: Firebaugh Eagles vs. Mendota Aztecs

The Firebaugh Eagles will venture away from home to square off against the Mendota Aztecs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Firebaugh hasn't scored more than two runs for six games straight, a trend the squad is eager to reverse.

Dos Palos hit Firebaugh with a eight-run fourth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Eagles came up short against the Broncos, falling 13-1.

Mendota might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 8-3 to Avenal, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Aztecs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Firebaugh's loss dropped their record down to 1-15. As for Mendota, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-16.

Firebaugh couldn't quite finish off Mendota in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 and fell 12-10. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
