Soccer Game Preview: Surry Central vs. Mount Airy

The Surry Central Golden Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the Mount Airy Granite Bears at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Surry Central has given up an average of 3.6 goals per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Surry Central came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Wilkes Central, falling 7-0. The loss continues a trend for Surry Central in their meetings with Wilkes Central: they've now lost eight in a row.

Meanwhile, Mount Airy fell victim to North Surry and their airtight defense on Wednesday. They lost 5-0 to the Greyhounds. That's two games in a row now that Mount Airy have lost by exactly five goals.

This is the second loss in a row for Mount Airy and nudges their season record down to 1-3-1. As for Surry Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

Surry Central suffered a grim 7-0 defeat to Mount Airy in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can Surry Central avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
