Preview: Notre Dame Academy Cougars vs. Ursuline Academy Bears
Notre Dame Academy is 8-2 against Ursuline Academy since January of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Notre Dame Academy Cougars will look to defend their home court against the Ursuline Academy Bears at 6:30 p.m. Notre Dame Academy is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
Notre Dame Academy stacked a seventh blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard last Wednesday. They blew past Archbishop Williams 45-23. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Notre Dame Academy has scored all year.
Meanwhile, Ursuline Academy scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Sunday. They blew past Maimonides 72-38 on the road. Given Ursuline Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while Maimonides is ranked 94th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Notre Dame Academy pushed their record up to 13-0 with that win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Ursuline Academy, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2.
Notre Dame Academy didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Ursuline Academy in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 50-44 victory. Will Notre Dame Academy repeat their success, or does Ursuline Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
