Softball Preview: La Marque Cougars vs. Lamar Texans
The La Marque Cougars will venture away from home to face off against the Lamar Texans at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
La Marque picked up another tournament win on Saturday. They came out on top against Fort Bend Bush by a score of 16-8 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). Considering the Cougars have won four contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Lamar came out on top against Tomas on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run third inning. The Texans walked away with a 10-7 win over the Gators. The Texans' victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Maureen Faustermann was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases and three runs. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Laura Ramirez, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Lamar's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for La Marque, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
