Basketball Recap: San Elizario Comes Up Short

San Elizario and Seminole squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but San Elizario had to settle for second. They had to suffer through a 69-23 loss at the hands of the Seminole Indians. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1078th, while the Indians are ranked 59th).

Despite the defeat, San Elizario saw an underclassman step up: freshman Jazlyn Hernandez went 6-for-12 to rack up 19 points and five rebounds. That was a full 82.6% of San Elizario's points, marking the third time in a row Hernandez has posted more than a third of the team's points.

San Elizario's loss dropped their record down to 14-19. As for Seminole, their win was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 29-7.

San Elizario does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Seminole, they have already played their next matchup, a 46-35 defeat against Decatur on the 17th.
